National Tree Dressing Day -

Always the first full weekend in December

We warmly welcome you all to come and join our celebration on National Tree Dressing Day - an event for all the family. Create and decorate your own tree work of Art to either hang in the woods or take home to delight all in sight!  Donations welcome. Warm beverages will be available at a small cost.

Tree dressing day aims to encourage the celebration of trees in city and country, in the street, village green - anywhere in the public domain. It highlights our responsibility for looking after trees and reminds us of their enormous cultural and environmental importance.

Trees are key to our survival. They came before us and we have used, mistreated and loved them for thousands of years. They have provided our sustenance, food, shelter, medicine and the air we breathe. They are our history and our future.

Tree dressing is based on many old customs from all over the world and at different times of the year.

Tree Dressing Day was initiated by Common Ground in 1990. They decorated a group of London Plane trees on the junction of Shaftesbury Avenue and High Holborn in Covent Garden with 150 large numbers, showing that EVERY TREE COUNTS! Since then, groups and individuals have dressed their trees all over the country.
